At an overcast and misty Brno circuit, Dani Pedrosa interrupted Jorge Lorenzo's domination of the MotoGP class, the Repsol Honda rider just pipping the Fiat Yamaha man by sixteen thousandths of a second in FP2. Pedrosa's teammate Andrea Dovizioso was 3rd, the factory Hondas taking advantage of their horsepower advantage up the hill back to the start and finish straight. Marlboro Ducati's Casey Stoner made a solid improvement, ending up in 4th spot just ahead of Valentino Rossi, while the Monster Tech 3 Yamahas of Colin Edwards and Ben Spies put in a good showing to finish 6th and 7th, ahead of the second Ducati of Nicky Hayden.
