Rossi?s opinion of the Lorenzo negotiations
This quote comes from the Spanish language website elmundodeportivo.es. The message and the sentiment are clear: “You aren’t worth what I get paid Jorge”.

2011 Moto2 Line Up - Corti, Cardus, De Rosa, Debise Confirmed, Pesek Out
As the new year approaches, the Moto2 grid is starting to near completion - though the sudden withdrawal of the Promo Racing / Jack& Jones by Antonio Banderas racing team is a reminder that the grid is only final once the lights go out at Qatar. Over the past couple of weeks, several signings have seen a few of the remaining blank spaces in the rider list fill out, and bringing the grid back up to 39.
The first announcement came from the Italtrans Team, who announced the signing of Italian rider Claudio Corti. Corti had spent 2010 racing alongside Jules Cluzel at Forward Racing, but had been edged aside to make room for Alex Baldolini. Corti now switches to the team that fielded Roby Rolfo and Robertino Pietri for 2010, and will remain aboard a Suter. Rolfo has departed Moto2 altogether, and will be riding the ill-fated Pedercini Kawasaki in World Superbikes, while Pietri is yet to sign a deal in either Moto2 or the AMA, where he raced previously.
The Tuenti Speed Up team announced that they had added Valentin Debise to their line up, signing the Frenchman to run alongside the Spanish prodigy Pol Espargaro. The Speed Up Team will once again be fielding FTR machinery, though this time, under the FTR name, rather than rebadged as a Speed Up, as was the case when Andrea Iannone and Gabor Talmacsi raced for the team last season.

Ratthapark Wilairot Update: Conscious, But Not Yet Speaking
More news on the condition of Ratthapark Wilairot, who was seriously injured in a road traffic accident that killed the rider of the motorcycle the Thai Moto2 rider was a passenger on. News emanating out of Thailand, in both the Bangkok Post and the website StayOnTheBlack.com suggests that happily, Wilairot's condition is improving.
According to the reports, Wilairot is now conscious, though the Stop&Go rider is still unable to talk. Fears of brain damage appear to have been allayed, as though Wilairot is not yet capable of speaking, he has been able to communicate with the doctors by a primitive sign language, and answer some of their questions.
Wilairot usually lives in Spain, but had returned to Thailand to attend his father's funeral. Christmas Wilairot, himself a former motorcycle racer, died last week of liver cancer. The service for Ratthapark's father has been postponed, in the hope that Ratthapark will have recovered sufficiently to attend his father's funeral.

WSBK Launches European Junior Cup, Rival To Red Bull Rookies
Since its inception, the Red Bull Rookies Cup (and its predecessor, the MotoGP Academy) has proved to be a rich source of talent for the MotoGP series. Top riders such as Bradley Smith and promising youngsters such as Sturla Fagerhaug and Jonas Folger have come through the system, with a steady flow of more youngsters coming through all the time.
In a bid to tap into the same vein of young talent, the World Superbike series is about to set up its own rival to the Red Bull Rookies Cup. As we reported back in November, WSBK is to run the European Junior Cup, series open to 14 to 17-year-olds, and will run at six of the European World Superbike rounds. The youngsters will be picked from entries consisting of riders with at least one year of experience in any motorcycle discipline, and will compete aboard specially prepared - and identical - Kawasaki Ninja 250R machines, Kawasaki's entry level 250cc four-stroke twin sports bike.

Laverty Fastest On Final Day Of Phillip Island WSBK Test
The rain that had been hanging over the World Superbike test for the first two days finally came on the third and final day. But the factory Yamaha and Aprilia squads were still lucky, with the rain only starting to fall late on Thursday morning at Phillip Island, before disappearing again in the afternoon, giving the riders a couple more dry sessions at the Australian circuitl. It was Eugene Laverty who made best use of the session, putting on a set of soft tires to set the fastest time, with a lap of 1'31.5. The Yamaha rider finished ahead of Max Biaggi, once again the fastest of the two factory Aprilia riders, while Laverty's teammate Marco Melandri matched the pace of Aprilia's Leon Camier,
The rain did not go to waste, however. Marco Melandri took the opportunity to get some time on the Pirelli rain tires, having no experience on the Italian rubber, after having spent his career in the Grand Prix paddock racing Dunlops, Michelins and Bridgestones. His teammate Laverty was the only rider to test the softer tires, the two Aprilia riders using the harder race tires.

Phillip Island WSBK Test Day 2: Biaggi Fastest Again
The weather finally turned halfway decent for a test, with the sun out and temperatures rising for the World Superbike test at Phillip Island in Australia. The improved conditions saw Max Biaggi once again top the - admittedly very limited - timesheets with a lap of 1'32.3, but 2010 World Superbike champion - out on an Aprilia bearing the #1 plate - was only a couple of tenths faster than both Yamaha's Eugene Laverty and Biaggi's Aprilia teammate Leon Camier. Slowest man of the day was Laverty's teammate Marco Melandri, but even Melandri was just three tenths off Biaggi's fastest .
Biaggi and Camier spent the day testing the 2011 Ohlins forks once again, as well as a new swingarm, fuel tank and engine update, aimed at smoothing power delivery. The pair also tested new Pirellis, though whether those tires will be ready for the season opener on February 27th remains to be seen.
The day was spoiled by a couple of crashes, both happily ending without serious injury. Marco Melandri crashed and hurt a finger, though that did not slow him down, while Leon Camier came away from his crash unhurt, only to suffer a bird strike, the Englishman hitting one of Phillip Island's ubiquitous seagulls at high speed. That incident was painful enough for Camier to call an early halt to the test, after Camier suffered swelling in his arm

Until recently, we didn’t think we could get down to that level and relate to Oedipus with the same wealth of shame and despondency; but the universe is a fickle beast and wins another round today, as we’ve been dry heaving all morning after looking ...Find Out

WSBK Schedule Reshuffled, Superpole Revised, More Technical Changes Coming
With some sense of sanity returning to motorcycle racing paddocks around the world, many of the emergency cost-cutting measures put in place in late 2008 and early 2009 are being reversed. One of the most prominent was the rearranging of the schedules on a race weekend, with practice in MotoGP being cut from four sessions to three, and in World Superbike, having all of the action removed from Friday morning. The WSBK schedule had taken on a rather strange appearance as a result, with two sessions of practice for both the World Superbike and the World Supersport classes jammed into Friday afternoon.
The Superbike Commission - WSBK's rule-making body - has come to its senses once again, and after bitter complaints from the teams - especially the World Supersport teams, who had their first qualifying practice at 5pm on Friday, often in very cold conditions - the change has been reversed. Practice once again returns to Friday morning, bringing qualifying much closer to race time for both World Superbike and World Supersport.

Biaggi Fastest On First Day Of Phillip Island WSBK Test
Whichever hemisphere the World Superbike riders choose to test, finding somewhere warm and dry remains an almost impossible task. While BMW, Suzuki and Honda shelter from the rain in Portugal, Aprilia and Yamaha are circulating in less than ideal conditions at Phillip Island in Australia. Though the track was dry, Max Biaggi described conditions as "like winter," according to GPOne.com.
Despite the cold, it was Biaggi who as the fastest on the first day of the test. The 2010 World Superbike champion tested the 2011 Ohlins forks (which he liked) and some Pirelli race tires (which it was too cold to make a judgement on), as well as working on the Aprilia RSV4's engine, now reduced to using chain-driven cams again, after the rule permitting the fitting of a gear drive for the overhead cams was changed, making them illegal again. Yamaha newcomer - and World Supersport runner up - Eugene Laverty was 2nd fastest, half a second off the Italian's time, and four tenths ahead of his new teammate, former MotoGP rider Marco Melandri. Biaggi's teammate Leon Camier brought up the rear of the field, just over a second slower than his Aprilia teammate.

A lot of people don’t realize that during the racing season MotoGP takes on the role of a small moving city. More Testing, More Rain: Wet Weather Washes Out Portimao WSBK Test
The wet weather continues to thwart any attempts at testing racing motorcycles. After the Moto2 test at Jerez was largely lost to rain, the first day of testing for a large part of the World Superbike paddock at Portimao suffered a similarly damp fate. With rain falling nearly all day, the assembled riders barely got out onto the track, posting just a few laps before heading back into the pits.
Fastest man of the day was BMW's Leon Haslam, taking advantage of one of the few moments the track was dry to post a 1'52.1, with his teammate Troy Corser a couple of seconds off his pace in the dry. Ten Kate Honda's Johnny Rea matched Haslam's fastest lap in wet conditions, posting a 1'56.9, with Ruben Xaus and Troy Corser just a couple of tenths behind him. But given that everyone was at least 10 seconds off lap record pace, few conclusions could be drawn from the test. At least Xaus got his first outing on the Ten Kate Honda, while James Toseland made his debut on the satellite BMW Italia S1000RR.
The riders will now have to wait and hope for better weather tomorrow. There is a chance that the second and final day of the test may be dry late in the afternoon, but as we have seen this off-season, there are no guarantees.

GP Commission: FP3 Reinstated, GPS Banned in MotoGP, Traction Control Allowed In Moto3
There's good news and bad news for the opponents of electronics in motorcycle racing from today's meeting of the Grand Prix Commission, held in Madrid in Spain. MotoGP's rule-making body met to discuss changes to the regulations for the 2011 and 2012 seasons, and electronics was one of the subjects under discussion.
But the first order of business was to rearrange practice. The changes made in the cost-cutting frenzy between the 2008 and 2009 seasons have finally been scrapped once again, and the four-practice schedule used by MotoGP for so many years before makes a welcome return. The schedule had been partially reinstated at the end of the 2010 season, with four sessions of 45 minutes replacing the three one-hour sessions which had been used for the past two seasons. Though the reception was overwhelmingly positive, the one complaint that riders had being that the 45 minute sessions left little time to make changes during the session.
That problem has now been solved, as the GP Commission has agreed to return to four one-hour sessions for the MotoGP class from 2011. The Moto2 class will see four sessions of 45 minutes on each race weekend, while the 125cc class will have two sessions of 45 minutes on Friday and Saturday morning, and two sessions of half an hour in the afternoons.

Engineers Assemble In Bologna To Work On 2011 Ducati MotoGP Bike
If anyone thought that the media storm surrounding Valentino Rossi's switch to Ducati for the 2011 MotoGP season would die down once the announcement had been made official, they were to be proven utterly wrong. First, there was the saga of whether Yamaha would release Rossi early from his contract to allow the Italian to test the Ducati at Valencia, then there was the excitement and drama of the Valencia test itself.
Rossi ended the Valencia test 15th fastest, with only MotoGP returnee Toni Elias and MotoGP rookie Karel Abraham behind him, unleashing a tidal wave of speculation surrounding his test result. Rossi's slow time was put down to his still injured shoulder (for which he had surgery a few days later), and in wanting to get acquainted with the Ducati Desmosedici, rather than focus on trying to put in a fast lap.
While both these explanations are undoubtedly true, there were also a few of signs of panic among the Ducati team, despite team manager Alessandro Cicognani professing that Ducati was "not worried" about the times. Speaking to the press after the test, Ducati Corse director Filippo Preziosi described the test as a "bad test" and spoke of Rossi's lack of feeling with the front end. But the Ducati team had taken plenty of positives from the test, with Rossi expressing himself to be impressed with the engine and the rear grip, something he had complained about on the Yamaha just about all year.

Two weeks after having his right shoulder operated on, to rebuild and restore the rotator cuff and glenoid ligament, Valentino Rossi was back at the hospital again. This time, fortunately, it was only to allow Doctor Giuseppe Porcellini to remove the stitches left after surgery, rather than anything more serious.
With the stitches removed, Rossi will be able to start active physical therapy in another two weeks. Currently, the Italian legend is undergoing passive therapy only, which is aimed at ensuring that his shoulder retains its range of motion and preventing the build up of scar tissue in the joint.

While the weather had produced torrential downpours thoughout the preamble to this GP, it stayed dry for the action in Germany. Rossi?s opinion of the Lorenzo negotiations
This quote comes from the Spanish language website elmundodeportivo.es. The message and the sentiment are clear: “You aren’t worth what I get paid Jorge”.
From elmundodeportive.es, translation by Fans.Moto.GP (Thanks!):
What Jorge is looking for seems presumptuous to me: Arrive at Yamaha, and in his second year ask that he be given the same treatment as me. [...]F1 More Info Read More Click Here Alonso

First Day Of Moto2 Test At Jerez A Washout
The first day of testing for the Moto2 test at Jerez has not seem much action, with a wet track leaving the riders little to learn at the Andalucian track. Despite the conditions, several riders did venture out on track, including Pol Espargaro, Andrea Iannone, Julian Simon and Scott Redding. The remainder sat and waited for the weather to clear. With so few laps run and so few riders on the track, lap times were fairly irrelevant.

KTM 250 Duke in 18 Months
Perhaps our only gripe with the 2011 KTM 125 Duke (besides of course that it’s not coming to America), is the too small for American roads 125cc displacement. With no graduated licensing programs to be found, unlike our European brethren, the 125cc learner format just doesn’t seem to work in our “can travel anywhere by car” society here in the United States. Not to fret says KTM though, as a 250cc or even 300cc version ...F1

Engineers Assemble In Bologna To Work On 2011 Ducati MotoGP Bike
If anyone thought that the media storm surrounding Valentino Rossi's switch to Ducati for the 2011 MotoGP season would die down once the announcement had been made official, the were to be proven utterly wrong.

Another Sponsor Pulls Out - Kenny Noyes' Jack&Jones Team Folds
The Moto2 entry list remains a work in progress, as teams granted starting places struggle with finding sponsorship, and alter their entries accordingly. The latest victim of sponsorship woes is the longest named team on the grid, the Jack&Jones By Antonio Banderas Racing team. The Jack&Jones squad had signed Kenny Noyes and Gabor Talmacsi to campaign the 2011 season, but after their title sponsor, the urban clothing brand Jack&Jones, decided to pull out of racing sponsorship, the team has been left without sufficient funds to continue.

On Tuesday, Miller Motorsports Park organized its final teleconference of the year with the stars of the World Superbike championship. This time, it was the turn of Max Biaggi to talk, and he fielded questions from the press on a range of subjects, from the role of electronics in World Superbikes, on the development of the Aprilia RSV4, on his thoughts on retiring, and on the prospect of a return to MotoGP. Here's what Biaggi had to say:
Moderator: Good morning, everybody. Thank you for joining us today. My name is John Gardner, and I am the Media Manager for Miller Motorsports Park. This will be our final teleconference of the year with riders from the Superbike World Championship. Today, we're happy to have the 2010 Superbike World Champion, Max Biaggi, with us. Jerez Moto2 Test Day 2 - Simon On Record Pace, Suter MotoGP Bike Surprisingly Quick
The sun came out, albeit a rather weak, wintery sun, for the second day of testing at Jerez for the Moto2 class, and all of the riders present finally got a chance to go out and put in some laps, rather than just the handful who braved the damp conditions on Wednesday. Fastest time of the day - and an unofficial lap record, beating the lap record set during the race in May by nine tenths of a second - was set by Julian Simon, the Mapfre Aspar rider setting out his stall for the 2011 Moto2 World Championship. Simon finished the day ahead of his fellow Spaniard Aleix Espargaro, the former MotoGP rider fast in just his second test on the Pons Kalex Moto2 machine.
